The Journey of Self Discovery Begins Here

Margaret's Philosophy:

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered Art Therapist. I view the counseling process as a personal journey, unique to each individual. I believe that creative expression leads to insight, hope and healing. The use of art in therapy promotes a broad exploration of the many parts of self that come together to form the whole person. Internal resources are brought into conscious awareness where they can be strengthened and utilized in day-to-day living. I enjoy working with seasoned artists, as well as children, teens and adults who have little or no experience with art. I also have over 15 years experience working with people who prefer the talk therapy process. This is an individual choice.

I am passionate about working with people experiencing anxiety, panic, mood disorders, trauma, relationship issues, grief and loss. I introduce mindfulness as a foundation for awareness and growth.

Many clients also benefit from the practice of relaxation to calm the system and move to a less reactive state.

I am an author and educator in the specialized fields of body image, eating disorders and art therapy. My home base is in the central valley. I provide services to Turlock, Modesto and the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you choose the art therapy process, you will:

Explore the world of images, symbols and metaphors as you travel through the stories of your life.

Find new definitions of self beyond personal, familial and cultural expectations and limitations.

Develop skills to help identify and manage emotional responses to thoughts, beliefs, memories and events.
